Enjoy an exciting week sleeping aboard and learning to sail a Jeanneau 44 yacht in the Whitsundays under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

RYA Whitsundays Sailing School’s training vessel is a Jeanneau 44, a high-performance cruising yacht built for comfort and designed for excellent performance. Accommodating five students and an instructor, the spacious interior has four double cabins and a teak finish throughout. The Jeanneau 44 features a dual helm station, furling headsail, self tailing winches and more – perfect for sail training.

Our instructor

RYA Whitsundays Sailing School principal Simon Summerton’s extensive experience and nautical qualifications surpass RYA Yachting Australia and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s requirements for commercial teaching instructors in Australia. With many years of recreational and commercial on-the-water experience, Simon is the perfect instructor to guide you through your course.

As well as being an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, Simon has Australian Master Class 5 and MED 3 commercial qualifications, a ship captain's medical certificate, an RYA Yachtmaster in power and is a dive master.

Under Simon's tuition, you will learn to sail with confidence, regardless of conditions or your level of experience.
